About AI for Seniors

About

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.

Henry Ford

AI for Seniors (AI4S) helps older adults use AI with confidence in everyday life. We focus on practical tasks, staying in touch, managing health, using smart home tools, and staying safe online. We also equip educators, community groups, and young mentors with simple resources so learning is easy to run locally and sustain over time. The project operates in Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, and Spain and is co-funded by Erasmus+.

AI4S responds to a clear need: many seniors want to use digital tools but lack tailored, accessible support. We design adult-friendly materials, co-created with seniors, educators, and young people. Resources are tested in real settings, refined with feedback, and translated for local use. The project supports EU goals on digital readiness, inclusion, and lifelong learning.

Building Confidence with Practical AI

Many older adults feel unsure about digital tools. Without the right support, many miss the chance to use digital tools that could make everyday life easier, safer, and more connected.

AI4S offers clear, real-world learning. Short lessons, plain language, and step-by-step guides show how to use AI for health tracking, trusted communication, smart home basics, and safer browsing. We include straightforward advice on privacy, consent, and how to spot scams.

Learning happens locally. Community centres, libraries, and senior associations host small sessions and drop-ins. Resources are translated, accessible, and easy to print for low-tech settings. Youth mentors provide friendly, one-to-one support that reduces isolation and builds confidence.

This approach strengthens local communities. Seniors become more independent and stay connected with friends and family through safe, everyday digital use. Educators expand their reach to include older learners and build confidence teaching AI in inclusive settings. Together, this widens participation and delivers concrete results aligned with EU goals.

Who We Serve

At AI4S, we support five key groups to promote digital inclusion and confident AI use across generations:

We empower partner organisations including adult learning centres, community groups, libraries and senior associations. We strengthen their capacity to deliver practical AI education and create programmes that promote digital inclusion, independence and lifelong learning for seniors across Europe.
We support adult educators and trainers with clear, ready-to-use resources: the AI Skills Transfer Handbook, a workshop framework and a Deployer Toolkit aligned with DigCompEdu. These materials build teaching confidence, enhance digital readiness and help educators guide older learners to use AI tools effectively.
We focus on seniors aged 60 and above who often face barriers to digital participation and confidence. Short, practical modules and guided tutorials help them use AI for everyday needs such as health tracking, smart home basics, communication and online safety, improving well-being and independence.
We engage younger mentors including family members, students and volunteers through the Intergenerational Digital Toolkit. It provides empathetic, step-by-step support methods and clear communication tips that strengthen social connections and reduce isolation through shared learning.
We work with communities and policymakers to share evidence and good practice on digital inclusion for older adults. By encouraging cooperation between education, technology and social sectors, AI4S supports a more inclusive digital society where every generation can benefit from AI.
